That's not a blimp, it's a dirigible. Dirigibles, inflated with highly explosive hydrogen gas, had a tendency to self-immolate like the one in the picture. That's had, since this very quality made them too dangerous.

Blimps, on the other hand, are filled with the heavier, but still lighter than air, helium, which does not burn. That's why they're able to circle around over the Super Bowl without blowing up.
