Six People Who Died To Prove A Really Stupid Point

This is Franz Reichelt plummetting to his death from the top of the Eiffel Tower in an attempt to prove that his functional and stylish invention - the coat parachute - would save your life if you fell from somewhere high.

GRAVITY DEFIANCE FAIL.
This hairy young fellow is Christopher McCandless who took off to the wilds of Alaska with barely any food, equipment or survival skills. He wanted to escape American materialism, which he did briefly before he carked it.
